Boxing Day at the Zoo?

If you'd rather be drawing animals than shopping this Boxing Day and live in the GTA, the Toronto Zoo is holding a special event, called the Annual Christmas Treats Walk. Bring in a non-perishable food item and you get free admission to the zoo that day.

Starts at 10 am, zoo closes at 4:30. Enjoy, and dress warmly!

The $1000 Tablet PC....

Hey Kids!

For those of you still looking around for a digital sketchbook of your own, Best Buy has put their Gateway CX2724 on sale for the bargain price of $999. And christmas/boxing day is right around the corner.

Specs
14" 1280 X 720 Tablet Screen
Core Duo 1.6Ghz
1 GB Ram
100GB Hard Drive
Intel GMA 950 Graphics

A pretty solid deal all told.

Here's the link for the specifics.

I've heard from somewhere that the Gateway tablets might not be photoshop pressure-sensitive. Anyone know if this is incorrect? I tried it out in the store with Alias Sketchbook and it seemed to work great.

[Update] I hear the problem can be fixed with a driver available here.

More Cafe Drawings..

Went again today with Sub and Phil

Ratatouille and Fechin...

Ya, my interests are definetly sporadic...

Here's a shot of three characters from Ratatouille.

I'm definetly looking forward to this film.

What's this about Nicolai Fechin? Apparently the 1975 book by Mary Balcomb has gone back into print. Budplant.com offers it up for $65 US - steep, but I hear it's quite a fabulous book. Check it out here. Shipping is free right now as well. And no, I'm not affiliated with BudPlant. If you don't believe me, you're free to check out Amazon.ca's price.

Yesterday's

I've been really lax with posting my life drawing...

Here's some fun stuff I threw together yesterday.. three different sessions.

Some stuff I found today...

School is definetly winding down - can't wait for the screening today of the third year group films at 2 pm in S235!

The fourth years are tomorrow, which should be swell as well.

Anywho, this here's a short entitled "Charade"

A little piece of Sheridan history - it's the only Sheridan grad film to have won an oscar, back in 1984.

A worthy mention is The Living Animation Festival blog, which posts up shorts and stuff to YouTube. They've got all the oscar-nominated ones up this year - hopefully this trend continues!

Also, check out This Dick WIlliams - Ken Harris Interview. Well worth the read.

For all of you working like crazy on those leica reels (I'm looking at you, second, third and fourth years), make sure to check out Dave Pimental's posts on drawing storyboards.
